EVENTS ON THE EUROPEAN DAY OF JEWISH CULTURE 2010

Title: ‚Familial roots – a part of ourselves’.

Participants:  Introduction: Heinz Stefan Herzka, children’s and youth psychiatrist Zurich. Irène Speiser, author, will introduce her book dealing with her grandmother’s story: ‚Hausauflösung’, non-fiction (Stroemfeld Verlag, Frankfurt, 2010). Ruth Herzka Bollinger, psychologist and docent, reads from the childhood memoir of her grandmother Else Freistadt Herzka (‚Guggelhupf und Sabbatsegen’ (Huber/Orell Füssli, Frauenfeld, 2010). Discussion moderated by Ruth Herzka.

Installation by Renée Levi, artist, Basel, in the museum courtyard of the Jewish Museum of Switzerland on the European Day of Jewish Culture.

At 3:15 pm a conversation with Renée Levi will take place.

Location: Jewish Museum of Switzerland, Kornhausgasse 8, 4051 Basel.

Renée Levi, born in Istanbul, lives since 1964 in Switzerland. The artist ist known for her large-format, often colorintensive painting and her in-situ installations.
